So movie mag Empire Magazine went all out with their 20th anniversary, asking twenty-seven actors to recreate iconic roles in stylish clothing. This is quite entertaining. Click on any of the below to enlarge.

Solid pictures. I'm not big on celebrity photo shoots, but this is easily the coolest shoot I've ever had the good fortune of flipping through. Bravo Empire. Do more!

The Harry Potter 7 Trio

And in a rather uninspiring picture. I suppose we always start with lame pictures don't we? But with this being the final film(s) I thought it would be fun to compare their last adventure with their first:

Well Ron doesn't look like a deformed horse anymore and I want to give Ms. Watson a round of applause for growing up so, SO well. Finally I can admit she's attractive without feeling like Roman Polanski. (I'd say Michael Jackson, but that ship has sailed hasn't it?)

Now I'm going to compare the Harry Potter franchise to one that's trying to be like it:

Badass!

I'm sure the general, non-comic book geeks out there are wondering who the silver Iron Man is. The answer is War Machine, piloted by Col. Rhodes played by Terrance-- Oh... Right... Played by Don Cheadle.

REALITY CHECK Now as awesome as this is I do want to skeet some of my doubt on this post. As the time draws nearer for Iron Man 2 I begin to have the same weary feeling I had for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. What type of weary feeling you ask? Lets just say my concerns came to fruition.

It's very possible Iron Man 2 will NOT walk in the footsteps of great super-sequels like X2, Spider-Man 2 and, of course, The Dark Knight. Something about the amount of villains, heroes and recent knowledge of Mr. Downey Jr.'s hand in writing the thing stinks.

But until its release, I'll enjoy the really swank poster. You should as well.

IMAGE - Worst Choice for Best Picture Nom.

Ha! That's pretty terrible alright. Before some of you leap out of your chairs screaming at the sky in either victory or melancholy look closely at the picture. It notes "Comedy + Musical," which is a category in the Golden Globes. Not that this pile of crap is worth even that, but really, who cares about the Golden Globes?

Hangover blew.

Iron Man Tidbits.

Hey look! "Iron Man 2" is still being made! The lack of news concerning the movie isn't too surprising as I would assume a tight lid is going to be kept on it as much as possible. But the small leaks of info drizzling toward us is more than welcome. Here we have Iron Man, Whiplash and the first photo of Black Widow on the cover of EW. Next is a solo Black Widow photo-- Played by a slightly unrecognizable Scarlett Johansson, I pray this film doesn't dive in to too cheesy of territory. There's just something that screams "Catwoman" about it.

Enjoy the pictures though.

"District 9" The Summer Flick You Haven't Heard Of

Truthfully, I'm not sure what to think of "District 6," except I know the advertising has been poor. Everyone I mention it to tends to tilt their head and raise an eyebrow.

From an innovative standpoint it reminds me of "Cloverfield." But it's clearly more formal than that. The trailer tricks you in to thinking its a documentary on illegal immigrating, or supplying for third world comfort. The uncanny awe that it's actually aliens startled me. When I try to explain the intriguing premise to others, it's no wonder I get a chuckle. It's hard to explain the idea while giving what you've seen justice. Thus, I'm going to let the trailer do all the work for me.

"District 9," hits theaters August 14.

New 'Trek' Posters Rock

"Star Trek" continues to boldly go where excitement lies, releasing some very charming posters that, while still utilize the floating head fad, also show us a bit more.



Of these two, the one with the Enterprise being thrashed by the Narada is my favorite. It's just too cool. Now for some more creative posters:




The poster of the Narada's drilling weapon firing in to San Fransisco Bay has become a fan favorite and its easy to see why. It really brings the movie 'down to earth' featuring a 'doom-and-gloom' image that's very rare with Star Trek. The final one is my personal favorite. A silhouetted Enterprise at warp gives the vague idea of just how scarce space can be, let alone how dangerous it is. I'm very captivated by that blurred image of the Enterprise. Way too cool. I simply can't wait for this flick.

"Public Enemies" Poster Mimics The Joker

I'm really looking forward to Michael Mann's "Public Enemies" remake. With Depp and Bale on board it almost seems too good to mess up, just as long as you remember Mann did "Collateral" and "Heat."

That said I can't help but recall "The Dark Knight" poster with Heath Ledger holding an automatic weapon. Hopefully the promotion will improve. Click to enlarge:

The Enterprise Snug as a Bug

A new picture of the Enterprise from Abrams' "Star Trek" has been released. A very quaint, relaxed little picture. I believe this is the first good look we've received of the top of the ship. Click to enlarge:

New Sabertooth Photo

From the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" comes a new photo from comingsoon. This one reveals a more animalistic Sabertooth surrounded by debris. Kind of cool, but I can't say for sure without the proper context. Click to enlarge:

The Fallen and Devastator (Posers) Revealed

The big Transformer designs for the next movie have been revealed. Both The Fallen and Devastator. Devastator has been reduced to a mechanical monster of some sort and The Fallen looks like an Egyptian inspired design rejected from "Stargate." I do like the color scheme though.

Why is it that these all powerful transformers look like they could be broken in half so easily in these films? The Fallen is the god-like creator of the Decepticons and it looks like Bumblebee could take him... Even if the second movie is an improvement it still can't escape the flimsy designs. Shame.

"HP6" Posters

Pretty generic posters, yes-- It's about what we've come to expect of the Harry Potter movie promotion. Dumbledore and Harry both look more aggressive than ever in these shots. My favorite would be the "HP6" one if it weren't for the fact that I hate the "HP6." Simply "HP" would have been fine, or even nothing. We all know what movie it is there's no need to stick that tacky, badly photoshopped "6" in there.

Full T-600 Revealed for "Terminator: Salvation"

Gamepro revealed a full on design of the T-600 in "Terminator: Salvation." Though it's not as sleak and refined as the T-800s we're use to from T1 and T2, it does seem to fit the evolution well. The hulking design of the creature gives the idea that Skynet is perfecting their weapons, but they haven't quite grasped their infiltrator roots. Click to enlarge:

IMAX "Watchmen" Poster

Warner Brothers knows how to market this thing! The IMAX poster for "Watchmen" has an echo of the "floating heads" posters many action movies adopt. But the colorful variation of that idea is far more entertaining than what I've seen in recent years. Gorgeous and badass. It takes a lot to merge the two flawlessly. Take a look:

The more I see of this, the more excited I am for it. The final "Watchmen" poster has a lot of charisma to it. I love how each character is in a pose that communicates what they're like. Beautiful poster. Click to enlarge:

Soundwave Revealed for Transformers 2

It's amazing what the toy company is to the film community these days. Toy companies are what leaked the fact that Two-Face would, in fact, appear in the "The Dark Knight." And whenever we're sorely desperate to know the design of a big franchise character, you can count on an upcoming toy line to leak the goods.

I present to you, Michael Bay's Soundwave:




"Wait a minute. This doesn't look anything like Soundwave! Soundwave looks like this:"



Well... Of course it doesn't look like Soundwave. None of the characters, save Optimus, look like themselves, why would the designers stay true to the characters now?

I'm not going to say I'm a big fan of it, but in its defense there's no way Soundwave would be plausible as a transforming stereo that launches transforming tape cassettes at his enemies. And the head, surprisingly, does have some similarities to the original design. No, I don't like the fact that he's a Cybertronian jet like Megatron, but, hell, I didn't even like the first movie.

Wolverine Poster

It was kind of predictable wasn't it? I'm not saying the poster isn't any measure of cool, but after three movies where we see promotional pictures of Wolverine holding his claws near his face you wonder if he can make any other pose. Click to enlarge:
