Urban Stars in New 3-D Film

Well, Karl Urban will be billed in a starring role once again. Will it be a flop? Demian Lichtenstein, director of "3000 Miles to Graceland," will be directing the movie entitled "Relentless." It will also have the 3-D component added.

“I am fascinated with the new 3-D technology and know that this script is a perfect match to take advantage of the unlimited potential of what 3-D can do,” Lichtenstein said. “After being mentored by James Cameron on the set of his new 3-D film ‘Avatar,’ I knew that 3-D movies are no longer just a fad. It is the future of filmmaking.”

The script is a perfect match? The movie's storyline focuses on four extreme sports pros that crash in the Amazon and use their "skills" to survive some cliche-ridden, angry natives. Sounds like the 3-D spectacle of the year... Not.

With that said, I do want this film to be good and I do want to like it. Reason? Karl Urban. I've always felt the man has talent that has yet to be tapped. If he would somehow get better scripts and stay away from the "Doom," "Riddick" and "Pathfinder" crap he's been doing, maybe he'd finally grow as an actor.

Meanwhile, these 3-D projects are gaining speed... Take that news as you may, but I don't really care for this whole 3-D movement. It just screams, "I'm a gimmick!" (Which it is...)

TRAILER - The Incredible Hulk (Trailer 2)

Well, must be "Hulk" day for the guys behind the promotions for this flick. This trailer is a lot more satisfying and gives me hope for the movie. There are parts where the CGI doesn't look too good, but there's something about the Hulk that just looks better than his appearance in Ang Lee's film. Exciting trailer overall. Lets see how this plays out...

"Hulk" Photos?! Say What?

Granted a lot of these photos we've seen before and might as well be screen shots from the trailer, however, I'm impressed this many pictures has been released for the film at once! The poorly advertised "Incredible Hulk" isn't high on my 'must-see' list, but it has potential to be much more appealing than the last big screen adaptation. Maybe the Hulk just isn't meant for the big screen? In any case, here's an enormous batch of images. Click to enlarge:

UPDATE: The Dark Knight Trailer Gone

I was too excited to wait for a high quality version. No telling how long this will stay up though. It might go down right after I post this. Here's the new trailer for "The Dark Knight" via "cam." Despite how awful the focusing and filming is off the screen... I'm still extremely excited. I haven't pooped my pants for a movie in such a long time. It's nice to have that sort of anticipation. Now for a clean pair of pants.

Expect a high quality version soon! Let me know if the link goes dead.

UPDATE:

Surprise, the trailer has been taken down. I'm sure a higher quality version will appear soon enough.

The Mummy 3 Poster Revealed!

And it's pretty cool. It's in keeping with the poster for the first movie, which I feel has become iconic to the Mummy mythos, and it builds up a new direction for the series. Will this direction be good? Ehhh... Click to enlarge:

"Dark Knight" Banner

A new promotional banner for "The Dark Knight" has appeared in Hong Kong. It looks like 'Part 2' of the international poster with Batman simply looking out of the window. Pretty cool. Click to enlarge:

More of "The Dark Knight"

If the amazing charred building poster wasn't enough to settle your appetite, here's four posters and a banner for you to settle on. Yes we have the generic "character posters" made popular by the X-Men movies, but I like how each character is holding up something that defines them or symbolizes them. The whole, Batman on the bike picture is kinda cheesy, but fun. Click to enlarge:

"Dark City" Director's Cut Coming Soon

Surprising news really. One of my all-time favorite science fiction films, "Dark City," is getting rereleased with new footage, new music and new special effects. The movie is one of my favorites-- Definite proof that you can still create amazing sci-fi without being an action movie. Director Alex Proyas ("The Crow") has enough talent that he deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt on this project. However, what's wrong with the original movie?

The lack of CGI was fine and the special effects didn't suffer at all from it. They were spectacular! The musical score was inspired and triumphant. Why replace it? As for new footage, I'm all for that, but I hope it's nothing that will lengthen the individual scenes. The break-neck speed the films' edits sets the perfect tone for the movie. The pacing doesn't need to be slower.

But now I'm just speculating like the fanboy I am. Perhaps the additions will actually be good for the movie. Unlikely, but I'll keep an open mind for this one. The Director's Cut of "Dark City" will be available on DVD and Blueray July 29th.

New Wanted Poster

And it's pretty meh... Points awarded and deducted for cool, but cliche pose.

Dragonball Teaser Poster

I was waiting for a bit more reassurance that this was real. Turns out it seems to be real! Someone's taken a photo of the new "Dragonball" teaser poster. I'm sure an official release of the image isn't far behind, but until then, here you go:
