Run, Jason! Run!

Aaron Yoo, co-star of the upcoming "Friday the 13th" disaster, updated the world with a fascinating quote that should convince the world this movie will be much different from the previous Jason flicks. [/sarcasm]

"I think the biggest difference is that Jason is fast, and he's realistic," he began. "It's not the kind of horror movie where stalk slowly, run fast and somebody catches up, there's none of the teleportation thing (from past movies)...the basic storyline idea of Jason is the same, and he's got this 2 and a half foot machete."

Well the story is the same [as the last 30 films] and he's got a, drum roll, two and a half foot machete! Well that's good! The one and a half foot machete was getting really old.

What's funny about this bit of news is that it actually has some Jason fans arguing that Jason has ran after his victims in the past. So naturally they have to moan about that. If I were them I'd bitch about a Jason movie that doesn't suck.

Caine is Harry P-- Brown! I Mean Harry Brown!

Michael Caine, most recently known for playing Alfred Pennyworth in Christopher Nolan's Batman series, will be entering a new type of crime saga. This time, he's the vigilante.

Caine will play a retired serviceman who is pushed to take matters in to his own hands when he sees how much crime has polluted the run-down area he resides in.

The film will be directed by Academy Award nominated Daniel Barber. Lionsgate is banking on a worldwide premiere of the film next year.

It's been awhile since Caine has picked up a gun and gotten his own hands dirty. It'll be fun to see him such a role again. Looking forward to it!

"Hellboy III" Murmurs...

There's been some speculation as to whether or not there will be a "Hellboy III." The well reviewed "Hellboy II" didn't do to well at the box office-- Opening a week before "The Dark Knight" made it hard for the movie to cash in on domestic sales. However, it has been doing well over seas. Director Guillermo del Toro mulls around with the possibility of a third film:

"I think they'll decide when the last euro hits the piggybank," del Toro said. "We laid the groundwork to have a magnificent third act. I’d like to return to an action franchise with 60-year-old actor Ron Perlman, because he’ll be scratching at that age when I get to it."

Variety reports that del Toro is "Booked through 2017," he will be directing "The Hobbit," and it's sequel, "Frankenstein," "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "Slaughterhouse-Five." Fitting a third "Hellboy" in to the mix would be tough, but apparently the Universal is happy with how well the movie is doing overseas and is interested in doing a third.

Rumors have it that Universal is also interested in a television series and some online segments chronicling the demon-hero before a third movie. It may even turn out that it's the best we'll get as far as more Hellboy adventures.

I certainly hope we get a third film. I didn't quite enjoy "The Golden Army" as much as I did the first film, but it had it's strong moments. The series could really benefit from a strong, third movie closer.

New "Ghostbusters III" Tidbits

It's nothing new, but I felt it was worth mentioning. Harold Ramis, co-writer of the new Ghostbuster film, along with "The Office's" Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, has released the following about the new "Ghostbusters" flick. It should give audiences an idea of what to expect if this project achieves what it wants to:

"Yes, columbia is developing a script for GB3 with my writing partners, gene stupnitsky and lee eisenberg. Judd apatow is co-producing [Year One] (an upcoming film Ramis also wrote with Stupnitsky and Eisenberg) and has made several other films for sony, so of course the studio is hoping to tap into some of the same acting talent. aykroyd, ivan reitman and i are consulting at this point, and according to dan, bill murray is willing to be involved on some level. he did record his dialogue for the new ghostbusters video game, as did danny and i, and ernie hudson. the concept is that the old ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity."

The whole "Bill Murray is willing to be involved on some level" thing worries me. The man is the first face I think of when I hear someone say "Ghostbusters." He should really get back to what he did well rather than play the same character over and over in overrated schlock that somehow passes for "intellectual" indie flicks.

A "next generation" introduction story is fine, but it needs the original busters at front and center to work well. Yes, other talent should have some spot light, but Murray's quips and Aykroyd's scientific babble needs to be played up and passed on to maintain the spirit of this beloved series. It's a very good idea and opportunity. I hope it doesn't get screwed over.

I would assume the regular edition DVD will simply be the same specs as Disc 1 on the Ultimate Edition. Blueray, two disc or single DVD release-- You have your pick. See you at Best Buy on September 30th!

Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire Are Back! "Spider-Man 4"

Sony has cut a deal with director Sam Raimi and actor Tobey Maguire to return for the fourth "Spider-Man" adventure! Rumor has it that Dunst is expected to return as well.

Sony hopes to film both "Spider-Man 4" and "Spider-Man 5" back-to-back. There are no details regarding how Sony got the team back, but do we really need to be told? We all know Sony must have ditched out half the budget of "Spider-Man 3" to get Maguire back; God knows it probably took just as much for Raimi.

Regarding villains, Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that “once you find out who the villain is, you’ll know who’s playing it.” My guess, and the guess of many, many others, is Lizard will finally make his movie appearance. Dylan Baker has played Dr. Conners for the last three movies-- It's a perfect set up.

Another possibility is the return of Sandman. Thomas Hayden Church's character floated away freely at the end of "Spider-Man 3" and I wouldn't mind seeing some closure with that.

Well it's good to know Raimi and Maguire are back with a superior scribe! Who is everyone's guess for the villain? Lizard? Sandman? Someone else.

If you don't want to guess, rest assured you'll find out eventually: "Spider-Man 4" is set for a May 2011 release.

Ghostbusters III in the Works?

"Ghostbusters III" has been in an unusual place for a long time. Last year Dan Aykroyd said the next film was to be animated. Then, (and I had no desire to post this because it was video game related) it was rumored that the "Ghostbusters III" project would be a well-written video game. Now we come to this. Take the next bit with a grain of salt. This information is subject to change since the people behind the "Ghostbusters III" project can't decide what to do.

The writer's of television's hit series "The Office," Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, have been bought by Sony to write a script for a "next generation" Ghostbusters sequel. The script is said to include all of the original cast, yet no one has signed up for it either.

Ivan Reitman, director of "Ghostbusters," and "Ghostbusters II" is also involved in the project. So it looks like "Ghostbusters III" is being re-born as a movie. I'm not entirely sure what the deal is with the video game, nor do I really care, but if a new movie with the original cast comes about I'd be stoked. If a new movie without the original cast comes about and we get a "Son of the Mask" type of deal... I'll be less than thrilled. I do hope "Ghostbusters III" turns in to something special.

"Ghost Rider 2?" Oh no...

With movies like these continuously being announced you would think it was some sort of sign of the apocalypse. However, we're still here. So I shudder to think of how much worse a movie will have to be than "Ghost Rider" and "30 Days of Night" to alert us of our doom.

Perhaps it will be the sequel to "Ghost Rider?" Nicolas Cage recently announced that "Ghost Rider 2" was in the works and heading toward Euorpe! (Oh yes! 'Cause different locations mean something radically different from the last one.)

The man compared Johnny Blaze's new story to "The DaVinci Code." (Did anyone keep they're eyes from rolling at that one? Just checking!) Johnny will be connected with the church in some way and have to connect with various religions in the next movie. No word on any villains or anything, but it sounds he's pretty serious about the project.

I find the concept of the Ghost Rider interesting, even if I think "HellBoy" has done it better. But Nic Cage seems to be only interested in doing half-assed action flicks and if the sequel is going to be anything like the first movie, it's a lost cause.

Two-Face's Official End

SPOILER ALERT: If for some reason beyond human understanding you have not seen "The Dark Knight" and do not want to be spoiled, do not read this.

There seems to have been a lot of confusion based on the ending of "The Dark Knight." The incredible film left some fanboys believing that the film's hero-turned-antagonist was still alive after Batman crashed in to him to save Gordon's son.

For those hoping Two-Face's death was a cover-up and he may appear in the next film, buckle up-- Cause he ain't getting up according to Aaron Eckhart. Superherohype ambushed him at a premiere for the following scoop:

CS/SHH!: Is Harvey Dent alive?
Aaron Eckhart: No. He is dead as a door nail.

CS/SHH!: So he's not coming back?
Eckhart: He ain't coming back baby!

CS/SHH!: I was hoping he would.
Eckhart: No. I asked Chris [Nolan] that question and he goes, "You're dead" before I could even get the question out of my mouth. "Hey Chris, am I?" "You're dead!" Alright, cool.

CS/SHH!: That's not a problem in comic book movies. You could still come back.
Eckhart: I think in contract negotiations it's a problem.

CS/SHH!: So you were never signed on for another film?
Eckhart: No, I'm not coming back. I think unfortunately, Heath [Ledger] was supposed to go on and that didn't work out. I'm nobody. I'm a cog. I have no say over this sort of stuff. I'm sure that there's so many other characters that they could whip together. I heard Angelina Jolie was going to be Catwoman or something like that. I thought that was a great idea. I'd like to be in that one.

CS/SHH!: It must be gratifying that so many people responded to your character.
Eckhart: Yeah, I dig it. Write your Congressman. I like that for the first time in my career I'm getting fan mail from kids and 8-year-olds. "My name is Bill. I really liked the film." I've never had that before. I think that's fun. I think someone told me they're going to be Harvey Two-Face for Halloween which is cool. I said to two kids the other day, "Did you see Batman yet?" Then I come to find out like two seconds later they've seen it four times. People are really going back to see it. My parents saw it I think 12 [times] so far. They're sick that it's going out of the theaters.

I didn't think he was alive by the end of the movie. Frankly, I think bringing him back for a third would be a cop-out. Yes, it is sad that Two-Face didn't get a lot of screen time, but I was totally happy that his character was fulfilled. (Which is far more than I can say for Venom in "Spider-Man 3.") I'm very much okay that he's gone for good.

Well that was fun. I for one really liked the movie. I wouldn't call it a comedy classic, but the winning consensus fits the mold pretty well. For those who have yet to see it, go.
