Peter Jackson? Hobbit? 3D?

Put this in your rumor wallet, but as of right now word is going around that Peter Jackson will be directing, not one, but two "Hobbit" films set to be released post-2010 and in 3D as well.

Now I understand the 3D craze is beginning and with the growth of digital projection systems more and more 3D movies are likely. "Beowulf" has only scratched the surface. We also know that Jackson is very much in love with the 3D concept and plans to do a trilogy with Spielberg in 3D. ("Tintin")

However, why is it necessary to bring the Hobbit to us in 3D? Furthermore, why is it necessary to split it up in to two movies? And post-2010? This sounds pretty bogus to me.Add to that Jackson is still in a legal battle with New Line, Sam Raimi was being considered to direct "The Hobbit" and the original release date New Line was committed to was 2009.

I know I don't normally pass along rumors on my blog, but this was pretty interesting. Now to await official word from New Lin and/or Jackson himself.

"The Dark Knight" Video Interview and On Stage Footage

The Today Show had an exclusive interview with Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart and Director Christopher Nolan about the upcoming Batman sequel, "Batman Begins." Some shots are onstage footage of Bale in the new Batsuit. He certianly still has that badass voice too! Very nice interview take a look:

Let me know if the video goes down, I'll find another link.

Two More Hellboy Posters

I wanted to wait for the one with hellboy actually revealed on it as to not make too big of a deal out of these crappy posters. They really need to find a better way to advertise characters from genre movies. Certianly there's a mroe creative way of doing it besides plastering their face on a poster. Anyway, here's Abe Sapien and Hellboy. del Toro's sequel, "Hellboy II: The Golden Army," arrives in theaters next summer. Click to enlarge:

"Zohen" is Not To Be Messed With

Adam Sandler will be starring in another of-the-wall comedy titled "You Don't Mess With Zohen." The project is directed by "Happy Gilmore" director Dennis Dugan. While this combination sounds promising, Dugan hasn't done so well since then. Remember "Chuck & Larry," "National Security" and "Benchwarmers?" Confident about this movie now?
To add to that, the writers of "Knocked Up" and SNL are the ones responsible for this story about an Israel Agent who moves to New York to satisfy his dream of becoming a hair stylist. Wow. Sounds groundbreaking.
It's a shame because Sandler has come up with some pretty good stuff in the recent years and I hate to see him dip this low....again.
The director of "Benchwarmers" and the writer of "Knocked Up?" I will pass!
The picture above is a still from the movie. Click it to enlarge.... If you want to that is...

Hellboy 2 Teaser Poster 1

I'm looking forward to this movie for a few reasons. I liked the first one, I liked the characters and I love the director. Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" marches to theaters next year. That said, I hate the teaser poster. But I'm forced not to complain too much because it's Selma Blair as Liz Sherman. 'Nuff said. Click to enlarge:

I still hate promotions like this.

New "Friday the 13th" NOT a Remake or "Re-imagining"

More information has come up about the new Jason flick. This movie will not be a remake or a new origin story of any sort, but rather a side-story that takes place in between some of the early Jason movies.
An insider from Mania had this information to pass along:

"It's not a remake. Don't even expect an origin tale - as some production listings around Hollywood are pegging it as. Imagine if there was a story to be told somewhere between parts two and four, just add water (from Camp Crystal Lake, duh), insert a leaner, meaner, faster Jason Voorhees, set to "blend" and you've got the recipe for what Dunes, writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift and director Marcus Nispel got cookin."

Faster? We already know he's mean and lean. The Jason movies have always been crap, but they have their cult flick charm. I'm not a big fan of them and I can't say I like Marcus Nispel, so I probably won't pay this movie much attention. With this new information, it just sounds like yet another bargain bin Jason flick.

Indiana Jones In Full Wardrobe

Some great, new pictures of Ford in his Indy gear has appeared online and I must say, he looks superb. Ford looks very comfortable wearing that jacket and hat again, and the pictures make him look as perfect for the part as the first three films did. Click to enlarge:

Next summer. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!

New Joker Pic Revealed By Empire

Empire Magazine has released its cover with a rather grotesque Joker played by Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight." Click it to enlarge.
Gotta applaud how demented he looks. I don't think this will be your daddy's Joker.
