Watch 5 Minutes of "Cloverfield"

Five minutes of the highly anticipated "Cloverfield" is now online. Take a look:

Honestly I wasn't overly impressed. Most of the footage was stuff we have seen before in the trailer. Plus the acting and dialoge was never convincing. I'm still very hopeful for this movie, but it's very possible that the hype surrounding the film could kill it. We'll see this January.

More "Dragonball" Casting

Emmy Rossum, (Christine from "Phantom of the Opera") is set to play a role in the new "Dragonball" film. What role? We don't know yet.

Eriko Tamura, of "Heroes," will play the character Mai and Joon Park has been cast as Yamcha. I'm getting the feeling that, because the character has yet to be cast, Rossum will be playing Bulma. We'll have to wait and discover if my guess is right.

"Dragonball" hits theaters August of next year.

International "The Dark Knight" Posters

Two new, and rather impressive, posters for "The Dark Knight" have been released. Click to enlarge:

I like the one featuring Batman more. It simply looks more pleasing to the eye. But the Joker poster is kind of cool.

First Harry Potter 6 Photo

Yeah, I know nothing to jump up and down for. It might as well be a shot from the previous movie seeing as his hairstyle stayed the same this time around. "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is due in theaters next November.

Watch First 5 Minutes of AVP-R

An abbreviated first five minutes of "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem."

Well, that was better than the whole first movie. Perhaps the music was just used for this promo of the frst five minutes, but it's great to hear the Predator theme again. I hope Brian Tyler delivers the musical ques for both respective creatures. It would be quite a treat for the fans.
The Predator home world is nothing exciting, but overall it looks like the visual problems the first film had are fixed here. Looks fun, can't wait.

Get "Smart" Photos

Some new photos from the new "Get Smart" film has been released. Click to enlarge:

Don't know how good this is going to be. I have some hopes, but I don't find many comedies with big name actors very funny.
Steve Carell stars as Maxwell Smart with Anna Hathaway (Agent 99) in this big screen update of the classic television series. "Get Smart," is due in theaters June 20th.

Ron Perlman, Red Paint and a Gun

Ron Perlman is back as Hellboy in Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army." (Isn't it great how directors like this guy aren't afraid of going back to making fun movies even after they've won Academy Awards? Well I think so.) The picture reveals Hellboy's new gun, no sexual connotation implied. "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" enters theaters this July.

First "X-Files 2" Photo

It's not much, but it's proof Mulder and Scully are back in FBI shape to take on the paranormal. Apparently the new film has nothing to do with the series story arc, or the previous movie, and it stands alone as another paranormal adventure, much like the non-mythological episodes of the series. Mulder and Scully return to theaters summer 2008.
I hope this is the beginning of a long string of X-Files films, because I'd like the story to eventually get back to the series' main storyline. (Plus, I just like the characters.)

The Predator Home World

A glimpse of the Predators' home planet has been released online. Big deal to sci-fi fans seeing as this has never before been revealed in the films. Right now I don't have much of an opinion on it. It looks very "sci-fi," but I can't say anything beyond that until I see the movie. I wish the designs were more akin to the alien designs of the first two Predator movies, but oh-well. Details in a "Body of Lies"

Awhile back I briefly mentioned that Ridley Scott would be doing a movie with DiCaprio called "Body of Lies," based on the novel by David Ignatius with the same title. (Original post here: http://gmanmovieblog.blogspot.com/2007/04/does-dicaprio-have-life.html) The film is about journalist Roger Ferris who is hired by the CIA to hunt down a leading member of Al Quaeda.

The film is said to also star Academy Award Winner Russell Crowe and is due in theaters Fall 2008.
I've got pretty high hopes for this one. Scott, as I've praised before, is one of the all-time greatest filmmakers out there right now. "American Gangster" is probably number two on my list of the best films of 2008. I understand no one can make a masterpiece every time they brush paint on a pallet, but this is looking very good.

TRAILER - Machine Girl

I want to thank my friend Dan for bringing this to my attention. The cult film aspect that is, for some reason, staying alive in North American theaters despite poor box office, strikes us again. This time the ultra gory "Machine Girl" is giving us a stab in to action. Take a look at this ridiculous trailer. And laugh. It's ok.

No word on an American release yet, but it may get one-- Even if it isn't a wide release, or theatrical release in general, a high profile DVD release is likely. "Versus," proved to be one of the very first, most popular Japanese action/gore/cult flicks to take the DVD market by storm. And ever since "Kill Bill," stylized, cult-esque movies have become more popular in the American market. ("Grindhouse," "Shoot'Em Up") We'll have to wait and see which market "Machine Girl" takes on in America.

Indiana Jones 4 Details

The Indy film is set in 1957, 19 years after the events of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." During this time Dr. Jones has been living a peaceful life in contrast to his adventures seen in past films.

But how boring would an Indiana Jones film be with the star just teaching classes? The movie will send Indiana, traveling on that famous red line, to New Mexico, Connecticut and Peru. With the Nazi's gone Indiana now races against the Soviet Union and rival, unethical archaeologists for the crystal skull.

Academy Award Winning Kate Blanchett plays a Soviet agent, while Ray Winstone ("Beowulf") plays an archaeologist racing to get the crystal skull before anyone else does.

Well, I'm pumped. I can't wait to hear that booming Indiana Jones theme in theaters. It should be one fun movie.

New Indiana Jones and ... Skull Poster!

This is easily one of the very best posters I've seen in a long, long, long time. It was painted by Drew Struzan, who has created some of history's best posters ranging from Star Wars to the first Harry Potter film. I love how epic and adventure savvy it looks. It is the perfect poster for an Indiana Jones film and it certianly captures the feel of the classic "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Temple of Doom." Beautiful poster.

TRAILER - Jumper

A new trailer for Fox's sci-fi/action flick, "Jumper" due this February. In theory it seems kind of cool and the best thing about it is that Doug Liman ("Bourne Identity," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith") is directing. But Hayden Christensen? I got enough of his bad acting after the Star Wars prequels. Samuel Jackson? Isn't he in everything these days? It seems like those winter action flick fillers to hold the ADD audiences' attention until summer arrives. In any case, here's the trailer. Make up your own mind:

Batman Poses

A very clear picture of Bale in the new Batsuit has been revealed on a French film magazine. Click to enlarge:

I have to say the suit is warming up to me, but I can't see it being my favorite of the many batsuits. In fact, I think I still like the designs of the one in "Begins" the best. Perhaps my mind will change when I see Batman in action.

New Iron Man International Poster

Iron Man is looking better and better everytime I see something about it. Here's the new international poster for the highly anticipated superhero flick. Click to enlarge:
